TOLL BOOTH REPLACEMENT PROJECT UNDERWAY
AT FORT MCHENRY TUNNEL (I-95)
WHAT: Through April 1, at least one toll lane will be closed for construction during daytime hours. The toll lanes on either side of the affected toll lane also may be closed each night.
All oversized (permit) vehicles should continue to use the far right toll lane at the toll plaza (Toll Lane 1 northbound, Toll Lane 24 southbound). If the far right toll lane is closed, drivers must queue and wait for the toll lane to be opened. Permit vehicle drivers must call 410-537-1230 at least one hour prior to arrival at the toll plaza and provide notice of intent to travel.
WHEN: One toll lane in each direction may be continuously closed (24/7) until booth replacement is complete. One adjacent toll lane may be closed between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning. The second adjacent toll lane may be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning.
WHY: Work is for the toll booth replacement project currently underway by Facchina Construction Company, Inc. at the tunnel toll plaza. Replacing the nearly 30-year-old toll booths is one of many MD Transportation Authority (MDTA) system preservation projects.
Note: Motorists should pay attention to the highway message signs on the roadway approaching the toll plaza and listen to the Highway Advisory Radio (1610 AM) at the tunnel for information on which toll lanes are closed.
