BALTIMORE, MD  The MD Transportation Authority (MDTA) reminds motorists that Sept. 30 is the last day AVI Decals will be accepted at the Thomas J. Hatem Memorial Bridge (US 40) toll plaza.  Drivers can replace their AVI decal with an E-ZPass Maryland Hatem Bridge Plan at the same cost  $10 per year for unlimited trips ($20 per year starting July 1, 2013).

As the September conversion to E-ZPass deadline approaches, area E-ZPass Stop-in Centers are becoming extremely busy.  The best way to avoid long lines is to sign up on-line at  Existing Maryland E-ZPass account holders may call the Customer Service Center at 1-888-321-6824 to add the Hatem Bridge Choice B Plan to their accounts. 

Through September, the JFK I-95 E-ZPass Stop-in Center, located off MD 222 at One Turnpike Drive near I-95, operates from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.  Please bring your vehicle license plate numbers(s) and cash, check or a credit card.  Customers may also sign up for the Hatem Bridge plans at MDTAs other E-ZPass Stop-in Centers near Maryland toll facilities.

The JFK and Hatem Bridge Stop-in Centers will resume their normal business hours starting Oct. 1: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Effective Oct. 1, the lane configuration at the Hatem Bridge toll plaza will change.  Approaching the toll plaza, Lanes 1 and 2 to the right will accept cash, E-ZPass and tickets.  Lanes 3 and 4 will accept E-ZPass only.  Lane 5 to the left will be permanently closed.

Note: Please remember to properly install your E-ZPass transponder.  Failure to properly install the transponder may result in a charge for the video toll rate, which is $9 at the Hatem Bridge.  For instructions and additional information, visit
