WORK TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT CLOSURE OF RAMP FROM WESTBOUND PULASKI HIGHWAY (US 40) TO SOUTHBOUND I-95 IN BALTIMORE CITY

WHAT: The ramp from westbound Pulaski Highway (US 40) to southbound I-95 will be closed temporarily to traffic. The detour will direct motorists to Moravia Park Drive, to Moravia Road, to southbound I-95.

WHEN: Weather permitting, Thursday, Oct. 12, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning.

WHY: Crews will be performing pothole repairs.

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of Oct. 8 - 14, 2017

 

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

REMINDER: Headlights are required at all times on the bridge.

The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closure.

Two lanes of the westbound span may be closed Tuesday and Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.

The westbound span may be closed Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon for preservation/maintenance work.

Monday through Friday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

During tunnel closures at the (I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, drivers may experience 15-20 minute delays while two-way operations (during which one lane of southbound and northbound traffic is directed into the tunnel that remains open) are implemented. Closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.

The Southbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of Oct. 10-12, 2017, for maintenance operations. Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4 a.m. on the following morning.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.

5K FORT MCHENRY TUNNEL FUN RUN ON OCT. 8 TO BENEFIT SPECIAL OLYMPICS MARYLAND

Minimal Delays Expected During Off-Peak Closures and 5K Event

 

WHAT: The northbound right tube (Bore 4) of the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) will be closed temporarily for this weekend's 5K Fort McHenry Tunnel Fun Run. Barriers will separate vehicular traffic from runners in the toll plaza area during the event.

WHEN: Weather permitting, Saturday, Oct. 7, at approximately 8 p.m., Bore 4 will close to vehicular traffic. All northbound traffic will be directed through the northbound left tube (Bore 3). Bore 4 is scheduled to reopen to traffic by 12 noon on Sunday, Oct. 8.

In addition, the ramp from northbound I-95 to Keith Avenue (Exit 56) will be closed during this timeframe. The detour route will direct motorists to Boston Street (Exit 57), to southbound I-95, to Keith Avenue.

The Northbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of Oct. 1-5, 2017, for maintenance operations. Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4 a.m. on the following morning.

**UPDATED SCHEDULE**

NICE BRIDGE WEEKEND FLAGGING

Overnight flagging this weekend;

Work related to ongoing structural repairs and steel work

 

WHAT: The Nice Bridge (US 301) across the Potomac River will be reduced to one lane with flagging operations alternating northbound and southbound traffic during the overnight on the weekend of Sept. 29. Weekday off-peak flagging operations will continue Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

WHEN: Weather permitting, Friday, Sept. 29, and Saturday, Sept. 30, from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following morning. In the event of inclement weather, work also may occur the weekend of Oct. 13.

WHY: Toll Dollars at Work. Crews are performing work as part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) $5.4 million project to repair the substructure and superstructure of the Nice Bridge. The project began in spring 2017 and is expected to be complete in early 2019.

 

Drivers may observe equipment like bridge inspection trucks on the bridge as well as inspectors climbing and moving over the structure.

Trucks greater than 10-feet wide will not be permitted to cross the bridge during flagging operations.

Drivers of vehicles exceeding the width restriction must call 410-537-6800 to obtain approval and schedule an escort. Calls must be made one hour prior to arrival at the bridge and will only be accepted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. In addition, no overweight vehicles (80,000+ lbs) will be permitted to cross the bridge when there is construction on the bridge.

WHAT: The ramp from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to Lee Street will be closed temporarily to traffic. The detour will direct motorists from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, to West Pratt Street, to Howard Street, to Lee Street.

WHEN: Weather permitting, Saturday, Sept. 30, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHY: Race event at Camden Yards.
