MAJOR TRAFFIC SWITCH THIS WEEKEND AT I-95/MD 43 INTERCHANGE
New temporary traffic pattern part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project

WHAT: Weather-permitting, the ramp from northbound I-95 to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard) will be temporarily closed to switch MD 43 to a new traffic pattern.  Traffic will be detoured to eastbound MD 43 (Exit 67A, White Marsh Boulevard), to eastbound MD 7 (Philadelphia Road), to westbound MD 43.

Currently, all traffic from MD 43 exits on the right to access I-95.  With the new temporary traffic pattern along MD 43, drivers will access I-95 as follows:

  • Eastbound MD 43 to northbound I-95 left exit;
  • Eastbound MD 43 to southbound I-95 right exit (same as now);
  • Westbound MD 43 to northbound I-95 right exit (same as now);
  • Westbound MD 43 to southbound I-95 left exit;

WHEN: The ramp closure and traffic switch process will occur on Friday, Jan. 4, at 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, after which the new traffic pattern described above will be in effect.

WHY: The work is part of the reconstruction of the I-95/MD 43 interchange for the MD Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLsSM) Project.

Portable electronic message signs will inform motorists of the new traffic pattern prior to and after this weekends switch.  Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down and stay alert when driving through the area.

The I-95 ETLs Project is expected to be complete in 2014.  For more information, visit www.I95ExpressTollLanes.com.
