Facility: (I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel

(I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel Closures for the week of January 21 through  January 27, 2013

The following closures are tentatively scheduled at the Fort McHenry Tunnel the week of 1/21/2013 through 1/27/2013;

  • Monday 1/21  Bore 1 and Bore 4 for maintenence
  • Tuesday 1/22 Bore 1 for Bore 4 for maintenence
  • Wednesday 1/23  Bore 1 for Bore 4 for maintenence
  • Thursday 1/24 Bore 1 for Bore 4 for maintenence
  • Friday 1/25 Bore 4 for maintenence
  • Saturday 1/26 Bore 4 for maintenence
  • Sunday 1/27 Bore 3 for maintenence

This is a tentative schedule subject to change due to weather, heavy traffic, incidents or priority closures. Please contact me if you have any questions or requests.

Facility: (I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel

ROUTINE INSPECTIONS TO RESULT IN KEITH AVENUE RAMP CLOSURES ON I-95 THIS SATURDAY

WHAT: Weather permitting, the ramp from northbound I-95 to Keith  Avenue (Exit 56) and the ramps from Keith Avenue to southbound and northbound I-95 may be closed temporarily to traffic.

The Exit 56 detour will direct motorists to ODonnell Street (Exit 57), to Interstate Avenue, to southbound I-95, to Keith Avenue (Exit 56).

The westbound Keith Avenue detour will direct motorist to Clinton Street, to Boston Street, to Interstate Avenue, to I-95.

The eastbound Keith Avenue detour will direct motorists to Vail Street, to Boston Street, to Interstate Avenue, to I-95.

WHEN:  Saturday, Jan. 19, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. In the event of inclement weather or other variables, work also may be performed Saturday, Jan. 26.

WHY:  Inspectors will be conducting routine annual facility  inspections.

Facility: (US 50/301) Bay Bridge

(US 50/301) Bay Bridge Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns Scheduled for the Week of Jan. 13 - 19, 2013

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.  

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

Two lanes of the westbound span may be closed Sunday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Friday from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.

The following closures are tentatively scheduled at the Fort McHenry Tunnel the week of Jan. 14, 2012 through Jan. 20, 2013:

  • Monday Jan. 14 - Bore 1 for maintenance. 
  • Tuesday Jan. 15 - Bore 1 & Bore 4 for maintenance.
  • Wednesday Jan. 16  - Bore 1 & Bore 4 for maintenance.                                        
  • Thursday Jan. 17 - Bore 1 & Bore 4 for maintenance.
  • Friday Jan. 18 - Bore 4 for maintenance.
  • Saturday Jan. 19 - Bore 4 for maintenance.
  • Sunday Jan. 20 - No scheduled closures.

Facility: (I-95) JFK Highway

MAJOR TRAFFIC SWITCH THIS WEEKEND AT I-95/MD 43 INTERCHANGE
New temporary traffic pattern part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project

WHAT: Weather-permitting, the ramp from northbound I-95 to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard) will be temporarily closed to switch MD 43 to a new traffic pattern.  Traffic will be detoured to eastbound MD 43 (Exit 67A, White Marsh Boulevard), to eastbound MD 7 (Philadelphia Road), to westbound MD 43.

Currently, all traffic from MD 43 exits on the right to access I-95.  With the new temporary traffic pattern along MD 43, drivers will access I-95 as follows:

  • Eastbound MD 43 to northbound I-95 left exit;
  • Eastbound MD 43 to southbound I-95 right exit (same as now);
  • Westbound MD 43 to northbound I-95 right exit (same as now);
  • Westbound MD 43 to southbound I-95 left exit;

WHEN: The ramp closure and traffic switch process will occur on Friday, Jan. 4, at 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, after which the new traffic pattern described above will be in effect.

WHY: The work is part of the reconstruction of the I-95/MD 43 interchange for the MD Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLsSM) Project.

Portable electronic message signs will inform motorists of the new traffic pattern prior to and after this weekends switch.  Motorists are advised to use caution, slow down and stay alert when driving through the area.
