Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of Dec. 1 - 7, 2013

 

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes. 

 

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

 

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Friday from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. 

On Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. the following morning, overhead lane signals will experience temporary outages due to electrical work.  Drivers should stay alert and obey all traffic-control devices.

Monday through Thursday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

The westbound span may be closed Sunday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Monday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. 

Monday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

ROUTINE INSPECTIONS TO RESULT IN

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF RAMP FROM

RUSSELL STREET TO SOUTHBOUND I-95

 

 

WHAT:           Weather permitting, the ramp from southbound Russell Street to southbound I-95 will be closed temporarily to traffic.

The detour route will direct motorists to the first ramp toward  Westport, to Annapolis Road, to Monroe Street, to Washington Boulevard, to southbound I-95. 

WHEN:           Saturday, Nov. 23, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHY:              Inspectors will be conducting routine annual facility inspections.

ROUTINE INSPECTIONS TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF RAMP FROM KEITH AVENUE TO I-95 THIS SATURDAY

 

 

WHAT:           Weather permitting, the ramp from westbound Keith Avenue to I-95 may be closed temporarily to traffic.

                        The detour route will direct motorists to Clinton Street, to Boston Street, to Interstate Avenue, to I-95.

WHEN:           Saturday, Nov. 23, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

                        In the event of inclement weather or other variables, work also may be performed Sunday, Nov. 24.

WHY:              Inspectors will be conducting routine annual facility inspections.

Facility: (I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel

(I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel Closures for the Week of November 18, 2013

The following closures are tentatively scheduled at the Fort McHenry Tunnel the week of November 18 through November 23, 2013:

  • Monday 11/18 - Bore 2, Bore 4 for maintenance operations
  • Tuesday 11/19 - Bore 1, Bore 3 for maintenance operations
  • Wednesday 11/20 - Bore 4 for maintenance operations                                  
  • Thursday 11/21 - Bore 4 for maintenance operations
  •  Friday 11/22 - Bore 4 for maintenance operations
  •  Saturday 11/23 - Bore 4 for maintenance operations

This is a tentative schedule subject to change due to weather, heavy traffic, incidents or priority closures.

The westbound span may be closed Sunday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Friday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. 

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span.  Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.

Monday through Thursday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

The westbound tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of November 18 and 19 for washing operations. Reopening is scheduled to take place at 4 a.m. the following mornings.

The eastbound tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of November 20 and 21 for drain cleaning, sweeping and line stripping operations. Reopening is scheduled to take place at 4 a.m. the following mornings.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time with little notice due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents or priority closures.

WORK TO RESULT IN SINGLE-LANE CLOSURE ON

NORTHBOUND I-95 IN BALTIMORE CITY SATURDAY

 

WHAT: Weather-permitting, the left lane of northbound I-95 from Washington Boulevard (Exit 51) to MD 295 (Exit 52) will be closed temporarily to traffic.  Three lanes will remain open.

WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 16, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHY: Crews will be repairing high mast lights.

RAMP FROM I-395 TO LEE STREET TEMPORARILY CLOSED FOR RACE EVENT THIS SUNDAY

 

 

WHAT:           Weather permitting, the ramp from northbound I-395 to Lee Street will be closed temporarily to traffic.  Traffic will be detoured to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, to Pratt Street, to Greene Street, to Russell Street.                                           

WHEN:           Sunday, Nov. 17, from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

WHY:              5K race event at Camden Yards.
