Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of April 28 - May 4, 2013

 

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes. 

 

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

The westbound span may be closed Sunday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span.  Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.

NEW lane markings and rumble strips are being installed this week on the westbound span.  Once installation is complete, lane changes between the left and center lanes will be PROHIBITED for the entire span.

OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OF I-95 IN

WHITE MARSH ON SATURDAY, APRIL 27

Closures part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project

 

Weather permitting, the following closures and detours are scheduled to take place Saturday, April 27, from midnight to 7 a.m. the following morning for crews to perform bridge demolition work and removal.

All lanes of northbound I-95 at the MD 43 interchange (White Marsh Boulevard) in Northeast Baltimore will be temporarily closed for overnight work.

·        Traffic will be detoured to Exit 67A (eastbound White Marsh Boulevard), to eastbound MD 7 (Philadelphia Road), to westbound White Marsh Boulevard, to northbound I-95.

Two left lanes of southbound I-95 at the MD 43 interchange also will be temporarily closed for overnight work.

 The work is part of the reconstruction of the I-95/MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) interchange for the MD Transportation Authority's (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLsSM) Project.

(I-695) CURTIS CREEK DRAWBRIDGE OPENINGS SCHEDULED FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 29, 2013 

The (I-695) Curtis Creek Drawbridge will open for U.S. Coast Guard water traffic on April 29, 2013.  Drawbridge will remain open until water traffic passes beneath.

DRAWBRIDGE SCHEDULE:

(I-695) CURTIS CREEK DRAWBRIDGE OPENINGS SCHEDULED FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 21, 2013 

The (I-695) Curtis Creek Drawbridge will open for U.S. Coast Guard water traffic on April 21 and April 23, 2013.  Drawbridge will remain open until water traffic passes beneath.

DRAWBRIDGE SCHEDULE:

  1. Sunday, April 21 - 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  2. Tuesday, April 23 - 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Facility: (I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel

(I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Closures for the Week of April 22, 2013

The Eastbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 8:00pm on the evenings of March 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26, 2013 for inspections, and maintenance operations.  Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:30am the following mornings.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time with little notice due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.

(I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel Closures for the Week of April 15, 2013

The following closures are tentatively scheduled at the Fort McHenry Tunnel the week of April 15, 2013 through April 21, 2013;

  • Monday 4/15 - Bore 4 for Tunnel Inspections        
  • Tuesday 4/16 - Bore 4 for Tunnel Inspections
  • Wednesday 4/17 - Bore 2 for Tunnel Inspections                                                       
  • Thursday 4/18 - Bore 1 for Tunnel Inspections
  • Friday 4/19 - No closures scheduled
  • Saturday 4/20 -No closures scheduled
  • Sunday 4/21 - No closures scheduled
