WORK TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OF RAMP FROM

SOUTHBOUND MD 151 TO SOUTHBOUND I-895

NEXT WEEK

 

WHAT:          Weather permitting, the ramp in Baltimore City from southbound MD 151 (Erdman Avenue) to southbound I-895 will be temporarily closed to traffic for cleaning and painting.

WHEN:           Sunday, August 4, through Sunday, August 11, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, the ramp from southbound MD 151 (Erdman Avenue) to southbound I-895 is scheduled to be closed.    

                       The detour route will direct motorists to eastbound US 40, to westbound Moravia Road, to southbound I-895.

WHY:              The work is part of the MD Transportation Authority's (MDTA) $1.9 million preservation project to clean and paint the structural steel on 10 overpass ramps and bridges along the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Thruway (I-895).

                  NICE BRIDGE DAYTIME FLAGGING CONTINUES INTO LATE AUGUST

 

(BALTIMORE, Md) -- The MD Transportation Authority's (MDTA) preservation project continues on the Governor Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge (US 301) across the Potomac River.  The ongoing project includes cleaning, painting and repair work that began earlier this spring.

The Nice Bridge will continue to be reduced to one lane with flagging operations alternating northbound and southbound traffic during the following off-peak hours:

·      Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until approximately Monday, August 26.

 Overnight off-peak hours are ongoing and will continue as the project is expected to last two years.  

·      Saturday through Thursday with Saturday hours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning and Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning.

 

Trucks greater than 10-feet wide will not be permitted to cross the bridge during flagging operations.  Every effort will be made to cross all vehicles exceeding 10-feet from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Drivers of vehicles exceeding the width restriction must call 301-259-4444 to obtain approval and schedule an escort.  Calls must be made one hour prior to arrival at the bridge and will only be accepted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

When traveling through work zones:

·         Slow Down Obey posted speed limits.

·         Be Courteous Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.

·         Pay Attention to Work Zone Signs, Equipment and Flaggers They help drivers move safely.

·         Avoid Distracted Driving Devote your full attention to the road.

(I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Closures for the Week of July 29, 2013

The Eastbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of July 29 and 30, 2013, for maintenance operations.   Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4 a.m. the following mornings.

The Westbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of July 31 and Aug. 1, 2013, for maintenance operations.  Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:30 a.m. the following mornings.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time with little notice due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents or priority closures.

Bay Bridge (US 50/301)

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of July 28 - August 3, 2013

 

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes. 

 

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

 

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

Two lanes of the westbound span may be closed Saturday from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work.

Monday through Thursday at 3:30 p.m., the right lane of the westbound span will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

The MDTA offers the following travel tips for the summer months:

·        Travel off-peak when heading to and from the Eastern Shore.  The best times to travel the Bay Bridge on weekends include:

  •          Friday before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
  •          Saturday before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  •          Sunday before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.

Facility: (I-695) FSK, Curtis Creek Drawbridge

(I-695) CURTIS CREEK DRAWBRIDGE OPENING SCHEDULED FOR JULY 25 

The (I-695) Curtis Creek Drawbridge will open for U.S. Coast Guard water traffic on July 25, 2013.  Drawbridge will remain open until water traffic passes beneath.

DRAWBRIDGE SCHEDULE:

  1. Thursday, July 25 - 7:00 p.m.

(I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Closures for the Week of July 22, 2013

The Westbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evening of July 22 and 23, 2013, for tunnel line stripping, electrical maintenance and general maintenance operations.  Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:00 a.m. the following mornings.

The Eastbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of July 24 and 25, 2013, for priority lighting repairs and general maintenance operations.   Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:30 a.m. the following mornings.

Bay Bridge (US 50/301)

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work. 

When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span.  Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.

Monday through Thursday at 3:30 p.m., the right lane of the westbound span will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

Facility: (I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel

(I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel Closures for the Week of July 22, 2013

The following closures are tentatively scheduled at the Fort McHenry Tunnel the week of June 22, 2013 through July 28, 2013:

  • Monday 7/22  Bore 1 & Bore 4 for Tunnel Maintenance   
  • Tuesday 7/23  Bore 2 & Bore 4 for Tunnel Maintenance 
  • Wednesday 7/24  Bore 1 for Scheduled Inspections, Bore 4 for Maintenance
  • Thursday 7/25  Bore 1 for Scheduled Inspections, Bore 4 for Maintenance
  • Friday 7/26  Bore 1 for Scheduled Inspections

OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OF RAMP FROM SOUTHBOUND I-95 TO WESTBOUND MD 43 NEXT WEEK

Closures part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project

 

WHAT:           Weather-permitting, Exit 67B from southbound I-95 to westbound MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) will be temporarily closed for night work.

The detour route will direct motorists to eastbound MD 43 (Exit 67A), to eastbound MD 7, to westbound MD 43.

WHEN:           Monday, July 15, through Thursday, July 18, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

WHY:              The work is part of the reconstruction of the I-95/MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) interchange for the Maryland Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLsSM) Project.
