OVERNIGHT SINGLE-LANE CLOSURES ON CAMPBELL BOULEVARD IN WHITE MARSH THIS MONTH
Improvements part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project
WHAT: Weather permitting, demolition work on the center portion of the old I-95 bridge over Campbell Boulevard during the overnight hours will involve single-lane closures in both directions of Campbell Boulevard between Honeygo Boulevard and Franklin Square Drive. One lane will remain open in each direction.
WHEN: The lane closures are expected to occur Sunday, Jan. 5 through Friday, Jan. 10 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning and Sunday, Jan. 12 through Friday, Jan. 17 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes. In the event of inclement weather or other variables, work also may be performed Sunday, Jan. 19 through Friday, Jan. 24.
WHY: Work is part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLSM) Project and involves the reconstruction/widening of the existing I-95 bridge over Campbell Boulevard. Campbell Boulevard will be widened to five lanes -- two lanes in each direction and a new center left-turn lane into Nottingham Square -- for improved traffic flow. A new pedestrian sidewalk will be constructed along eastbound Campbell Boulevard with underpass lighting.
The Campbell Boulevard improvements are part of the $142.6 million project underway by Cherry Hill Construction of Jessup, Md., to reconstruct the I-95/MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) interchange.
The new I-95 Express Toll Lanes are expected to open in late 2014. For more information, visit I95ExpressTollLanes.com.
