Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of March 2 - 8, 2014

 

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes. 

 

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

 

The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closures.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Friday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from   9 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from    9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span.  Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.

Monday through Friday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

Facility: (I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel

(I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Closures for the Week of March 3, 2014

The Eastbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9:00 p.m. on the evening of March 3, 4 & 5, 2014   for maintenance operations. Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:00 a.m. the following morning.

The Westbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9:00 p.m. on the evenings of March 6, 2014 for maintenance operations. Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:00 a.m. the following mornings.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time with little notice due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.

ROUTINE INSPECTIONS TO RESULT IN

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF RAMP FROM

SOUTHBOUND I-895 TO LOMBARD STREET

THIS SATURDAY

  

WHAT:           Weather permitting, Exit 12 from southbound I-895 to Lombard Street in Baltimore City will be closed temporarily to traffic.                    

The detour route will direct motorists to Exit 14 (Moravia Road), to southbound I-95, to westbound Eastern Avenue (Exit 59), to northbound Ponca Street, to Lombard Street.

WHEN:           Saturday, March 1, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHY:              Inspectors will be conducting routine annual facility inspections.

**UPDATED SCHEDULE**

CONTINUOUS CLOSURE OF RAMP FROM

SOUTHBOUND I-895 TO POTEE STREET (EXIT 7)

  

WHAT:           The exit ramp from southbound I-895 to Potee Street (Exit 7) in Baltimore City will remain continuously closed (24/7) until the end of April.  Previously the closure was anticipated to reopen in early 2014. 

            The detour route will continue to direct motorists from southbound I-895, to northbound I-695 (Exit 3; Inner Loop), to Washington Boulevard (Exit 10), to Patapsco Avenue, to Potee Street.

WHEN:           The exit ramp from southbound I-895 to Potee Street (Exit 7)   closed on Sept. 28, 2013.  Weather permitting, the exit ramp is expected to reopen April 24, 2014.

WHY:              Repairs to the I-895 Potee Street and Patapsco Avenue entrance and exit ramps are part of the MD Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) $12.6 million facility preservation project to replace the decks of the I-895 bridges over Patapsco Avenue, Potee Street and Hanover Street.  Northbound and southbound I-895 lanes are reduced to 10.5 feet (left lane) and 11.5 feet (right lane) throughout project.

ROUTINE INSPECTIONS TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF RAMP FROM SOUTHBOUND I-95 TO KEITH AVENUE THIS SATURDAY

 

WHAT:           Weather permitting, the ramp from southbound I-95 to Keith Avenue (Exit 56) will be closed temporarily to traffic.          

                        The detour route will direct motorists to ODonnell Street (Exit 57), to Interstate Avenue, to Boston Street, to Clinton Street, to Keith Avenue.                 

WHEN:          Saturday, Feb. 22, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Due to inclement weather, the closure originally scheduled for Feb. 15 has been rescheduled for this date.

WHY:              Inspectors will be conducting routine annual facility inspections.
