WORK TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF

RAMP FROM SOUTHBOUND I-895 TO LOMBARD STREET

THIS SATURDAY

  

WHAT:           Weather permitting, Exit 12 from southbound I-895 to Lombard Street in Baltimore City will be closed temporarily to traffic.

The detour route will direct motorists to Exit 14 (Moravia Road), to southbound I-95, to westbound Eastern Avenue (Exit 59), to northbound Ponca Street, to Lombard Street.                   

WHEN:          Saturday, May 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.                  

WHY:             Work related to Maryland Transit Administration Redline project.

DAILY OFF-PEAK LANE CLOSURES ON I-395/I-95 IN BALTIMORE CITY BEGIN THURSDAY, MAY 1

 

 

WHAT:         Weather permitting, one lane on the ramp from southbound I-395 to southbound I-95 and the right lane of southbound I-95 from the I-395 entrance ramp to MD 295 (Exit 52) will be closed temporarily to traffic.  

                        

WHEN:         On or about Thursday, May 1, through mid-June, one lane on the ramp from southbound I-395 to southbound I-95 will be closed Monday through Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. the following afternoon and continuously starting Friday, from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.  All lanes on southbound I-95 will be open during these times.

                       The right lane of southbound I-95 from the I-395 entrance ramp to MD 295 (Exit 52) will be closed Monday through Friday, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.  All lanes on southbound I-395 will be open during these times.  Exit 52 will remain open.

WHY:             The work is part of the MD Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) $66 million preservation project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck (riding) surface and roadway joints on mainline I-95 and the ramps serving I-95 between the Fort McHenry Tunnel and Caton Avenue (Exit 50).  The entire project is expected to be complete in mid 2016.

                        Beginning in mid-June, the ramp from southbound I-395 to southbound I-95 will be reduced to one lane continuously (24/7) for approximately two months.  The MDTA will issue traffic advisories as the closures are scheduled.

(I-95) Fort McHenry Tunnel Closures for the Week of April 28, 2014

The following closures are tentatively scheduled at the Fort McHenry Tunnel the week of April 21, 2014 through April 27, 2014:

  • Monday 4/28 - No Closures Scheduled
  • Tuesday 4/29 - Bore 2 closed for maintenance operations
  • Wednesday 4/30 -  Bore 2 closed for mainenance operations.
  • Thursday 5/1 - Bore 2 closed for maintenance operations
  •  Friday 5/2 - No Closures Scheduled
  •  Saturday 5/3 - No Closures Scheduled
  • Sunday 5/4 - No Closures Scheduled

This is a tentative schedule subject to change due to weather, heavy traffic, incidents or priority closures.

OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES OF I-95 IN

WHITE MARSH FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 28 - MAY 3

Closures part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project

  

WHAT:          Weather permitting, two lanes of southbound and northbound I-95 at the MD 43 interchange (White Marsh Boulevard) in Northeast Baltimore will be temporarily closed for overnight work.                         

WHEN:          Double-lane closures will occur on northbound and southbound I-95 Monday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.  After 10 p.m., periodic 5-10 minute traffic drags, during which police will bring vehicles to a reduced pace prior to the work zone, may occur.        

Please note that additional temporary, overnight closures may occur as necessary into next month.  The MDTA will issue traffic advisories when additional closures are scheduled. 

WHY:             Crews will be erecting steel as part of the reconstruction of the I-95/MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) interchange for the Maryland Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLSM) Project.  

 

The new I-95 Express Toll Lanes are expected to open in late 2014.  For more information, visit I95ExpressTollLanes.com.

The Westbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9:00pm on the evenings of April 28th thru May 1st for tunnel washing operations.

Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:00am on the following mornings.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time with little notice due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

 Scheduled for the Week of April 27 - May 3, 2014

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes. 

 

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

REMINDER:  MANDATORY HEADLIGHT USE AREA signs have been installed.  Headlights are required at all times on the bridge.

 

The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closures.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span.  Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.

Monday through Thursday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

CLOSURE OF RAMP FROM PONCA STREET TO SOUTHBOUND I-895 THIS WEEKEND

  

WHAT:           Weather permitting, the ramp from northbound and southbound Ponca Street to southbound I-895 will be closed temporarily to traffic.           

Northbound Ponca Street detour route will direct motorists to Lombard Street, to Kane Street, to Eastern Avenue, to Ponca Street, to ODonnell Street, to southbound I-895.

Southbound Ponca Street detour route will direct motorists to ODonnell Street, to southbound I-895.                 

WHEN:          Saturday, April 26, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  In the event of inclement weather or other variables, work also may be performed Sunday.              

WHY:              Work related to Maryland Transit Administration Redline project.

WHAT:           Weather permitting, the ramp from northbound I-395 to Lee Street will be closed temporarily to traffic.  Traffic will be detoured to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, to Pratt Street, to Greene Street, to Russell Street.                                           

WHEN:           Saturday, April 19, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

WHY:              Event at Camden Yards Sports Complex.

Closures part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project

  

WHAT:          Weather permitting, two lanes of southbound and northbound I-95 at the MD 43 interchange (White Marsh Boulevard) in Northeast Baltimore will be temporarily closed for overnight work.    

                        Weather permitting, one lane in both directions of Campbell Boulevard between Honeygo Boulevard and Franklin Square Drive will be temporarily closed for overnight work. 

WHEN:          Double-lane closures will occur on northbound and southbound I-95 Monday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.  During Mondays closure on southbound I-95, periodic 10-15 minute traffic drags, during which police will bring vehicles to a reduced pace prior to the work zone, are scheduled.

Single-lane closures will occur Monday through Thursday, from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning in both directions of Campbell Boulevard between Honeygo Boulevard and Franklin Square Drive.

Campbell Boulevard will be widened to five lanes -- two lanes in each direction and a new center left-turn lane into Nottingham Square -- for improved traffic flow.  A new pedestrian sidewalk will be constructed along eastbound Campbell Boulevard with underpass lighting.
