OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES OF I-95 IN

WHITE MARSH FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 28 - MAY 3

Closures part of I-95 Express Toll LanesSM Project

  

WHAT:          Weather permitting, two lanes of southbound and northbound I-95 at the MD 43 interchange (White Marsh Boulevard) in Northeast Baltimore will be temporarily closed for overnight work.                         

WHEN:          Double-lane closures will occur on northbound and southbound I-95 Monday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.  After 10 p.m., periodic 5-10 minute traffic drags, during which police will bring vehicles to a reduced pace prior to the work zone, may occur.        

Please note that additional temporary, overnight closures may occur as necessary into next month.  The MDTA will issue traffic advisories when additional closures are scheduled. 

WHY:             Crews will be erecting steel as part of the reconstruction of the I-95/MD 43 (White Marsh Boulevard) interchange for the Maryland Transportation Authoritys (MDTA) I-95 Express Toll Lanes (ETLSM) Project.

The Westbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9:00pm on the evenings of April 28th thru May 1st for tunnel washing operations.

Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:00am on the following mornings.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time with little notice due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

 Scheduled for the Week of April 27 - May 3, 2014

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes. 

 

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK

REMINDER:  MANDATORY HEADLIGHT USE AREA signs have been installed.  Headlights are required at all times on the bridge.

 

The eastbound span may be closed Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closures.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span.  Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.

Monday through Thursday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.
