Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of Oct. 9 – 15, 2016

 

All work will be performed weather permitting.  The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals.  Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.

REMINDER: Headlights are required at all times on the bridge.

The westbound span may be closed Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Thursday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections.  Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Tuesday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon for preservation/maintenance work.  Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

When daytime two-way traffic is in effect on the westbound span, toll lanes 1 through 5, on the left side of the toll plaza, will be directed into contra-flow traffic on the westbound span.  Motorists wishing to use an E-ZPass® Only lane to access the eastbound span should use toll lanes 6 or 9.

Monday through Friday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

Facility: (I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel

During tunnel closures at the (I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, drivers may experience 15-20 minute delays while two-way operations (during which one lane of southbound and northbound traffic is directed into the tunnel that remains open) are implemented. Closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.

(I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel Lane Closures for the Week of October 11-13, 2016

The Southbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9:00pm on the evenings of October 11 and 13, 2016, for maintenance operations. Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:00am on the following morning.

The Northbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9:00pm on the evening of October 12, 2016, for maintenance operations. Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4:00am on the following morning.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.

WORK TO RESULT IN OVERNIGHT CLOSURE OF

RAMP FROM I-395 TO NORTHBOUND I-95

 

WHAT: The ramp in Baltimore City from I-395 to northbound I-95 will be closed temporarily to traffic during overnight hours. The detour route will direct motorists to southbound I-95, to Caton Avenue (Exit 50), to northbound I-95.

WHEN: Weather permitting, Saturday, Oct. 8, from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m.

WHY: Crews will be performing electrical repairs.

WORK TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT CLOSURE OF I-695 INNER LOOP IN NORTHEAST BALTIMORE

WHAT: All lanes of eastbound I-695 (INNER LOOP) at I-95 (Exit 33) will be closed.  Traffic will be detoured to northbound I-95 (Exit 33), to eastbound MD 43 (Exit 67, White Marsh Boulevard), to eastbound MD 7, to westbound MD 43, to southbound I-95, to eastbound I-695 (Exit 64).

WHEN: Weather permitting, Monday, Oct. 3, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morningIn the event of inclement weather or other variables, work also may be performed Tuesday, Oct. 4.

WHY: Crews will be restriping the roadway as part of the Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) I-95 Improvement Project with Express Toll Lanes (ETL).  The current work at the I-95/I-695 interchange will reconstruct and realign I-695 from US 1 to MD 7 (Philadelphia Road).  The project is anticipated to be complete in fall 2016.
