WORK TO RESULT IN TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OF RAMP FROM NORTHBOUND I-95 TO WASHINGTON BOULEVARD

 

WHAT: The ramp from northbound I-95 to Washington Boulevard (Exit 51) will be closed overnight. The detour will direct motorists to Russell Street (Exit 52), to Monroe Street, to Washington Boulevard.

WHEN: Weather permitting, Monday, May 22, through Thursday, May 25, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning.

WHY: Toll Dollars At Work. Crews will close the ramp to pour foundations as part of the Maryland Transportation Authority's (MDTA) $13.7 million project to remove and replace weathering steel high-mast light poles along I-95 in Baltimore.

Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the Week of May 21 - 24, 2017

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.

REMINDER: Headlights are required at all times on the bridge.

The eastbound span may be closed may be closed Sunday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closure.

The westbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work or routine annual inspections. Two-way traffic will operate on the eastbound span during the full westbound span closures.

One lane of the westbound span may be closed Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon for preservation/maintenance work.

Monday through Wednesday, one lane will be closed for approximately 15 minutes for contractor pick-up.

The MDTA offers the following travel tips for the summer months:

· Travel off-peak when heading to and from the Eastern Shore. The best times to travel the Bay Bridge on weekends include:

  • Friday - before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
  • Saturday - before 7 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • Sunday - before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m.

Facility: (I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel

During tunnel closures at the (I-895) Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, drivers may experience 15-20 minute delays while two-way operations (during which one lane of southbound and northbound traffic is directed into the tunnel that remains open) are implemented. Closure times are dependent on traffic volumes.

The Southbound Tunnel is scheduled to be closed at 9 p.m. on the evenings of May 21-25, 2017, for maintenance operations. Re-opening is scheduled to take place at 4 a.m. on the following morning.

This is a tentative schedule that is subject to change at any time due to weather, traffic conditions, emergency incidents, or priority closures.
