Lane Closures and Traffic Patterns

Scheduled for the week of May 27 – 31, 2025

All work will be performed weather permitting. The MDTA urges motorists to drive with caution and obey all traffic-control devices and lane-control signals. Headlights are required at all times on the bridge. Lane closures are subject to change and closure times are dependent on traffic volumes and other work variables. 

TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK 

The eastbound span may be closed Monday and Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning for preservation/maintenance work. The nighttime closures feature deck removal and replacement for the eastbound bridge deck replacement project. Temporary concrete connection slabs are utilized for this crucial work, allowing for travel lanes to reopen each morning and for a smoother driving transition across work areas. Learn more here. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span during the full eastbound span closures.

One lane of the eastbound span may be closed Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for preservation/maintenance work. Two-way traffic will operate on the westbound span.

There are no scheduled lane closures between May 22 – 26. The best times to travel across the Bay Bridge this holiday period include:

  • Friday, May 23 – before 8 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 24 – before 7 a.m. and after 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 25 – before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • Memorial Day Monday, May 26 – before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 27 – before 7 a.m. and after 7 p.m.
• Westbound
  
  • Thursday, May 22 – before 11 a.m. and after 7 p.m.
  • Friday, May 23 – before 8 a.m. and after 8 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 24 – before 11 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 25 – before 11 a.m. and after 5 p.m.
  • Memorial Day Monday, May 26 – before 9 a.m. and after 10 p.m.
  • Tuesday, May 27 – before 6 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
