GRADUATION CEREMONY HELD FOR MDTA POLICE ACADEMY

BALTIMORE, MD -- The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police announced today the graduation of 35 police recruits, who are now sworn to serve the MDTA Police, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) Police and the Perryville Police Department.

After 29 weeks of demanding training, we are excited to see these men and women reach their goals, said MDTA Acting Police Chief Major Michael Kundrat.  Each one has worked very hard in earning the privilege to be called a Police Officer.

SafeZones Speed Camera Program Improves Safety

Maryland SafeZones Automated Speed EnforcementWork zone fatalities are at the lowest level in more than a decade. Work zone-related crashes, fatalities and injuries are at a more than 10-year low according to SHA's finalized 2011 crash data.  Based on the last three years, fatalities in work-zone crashes decreased by more than half from nine in 2009 to three in 2011.

MDTA Police Awarded the CALEA TRI-ARC Excellence Award

Tri-Arc Award of ExecellenceOn March 24, while attending the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Conference, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police was honored with the CALEA TRI-ARC Excellence Award. The award was created to recognize entities that concurrently hold all three CALEA Accreditation Awards -- Law Enforcement, Public Safety Communications and Public Safety Training Academy.
