MDTA POLICE ARREST BALTIMORE MAN

FOR ARMED CARJACKING AND ASSAULT

BALTIMORE, MD – On Monday, Jan. 21, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police arrested a Baltimore man and charged him with multiple crimes related to a Jan. 15 armed carjacking.

An MDTA Police officer attempted to stop a 2016 Toyota that was reportedly involved in an armed carjacking. The driver refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle crashed into a fence and both occupants attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended a short time later. The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Barry Horton from Baltimore, claimed possession of the stolen vehicle. It is alleged that during the armed carjacking, Horton pointed a black BB gun at the owner of the vehicle and then struck him with the vehicle while attempting to flee the scene.

The MDTA Police charged Horton with vehicle theft, robbery, assault, illegal possession of a BB gun, fleeing from police and driving on a revoked license.

After processing, officers transported Horton to the Central Booking Intake Facility in Baltimore City.
