MDTA POLICE RECOVER TWO GUNS AND DRUGS ON I-95 IN BALTIMORE

.38 Caliber Revolver Listed as Stolen

BALTIMORE, MD - On Sunday, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police arrested a Florida man who had marijuana, drug distribution materials and two loaded guns in his car.

An MDTA Police Officer stopped Matthew Robley Kiscaden, 40, of Deland, Fl., on southbound I-95 in Baltimore City on July 17. Kiscaden was driving a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with no license plates. After a roadside interview and subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located the guns, drugs and distribution materials in the vehicle's cabin. Kiscaden was taken into custody without incident.

"This was great work by MDTA Police officers looking beyond a traffic violation and taking these illegal guns and drugs off our streets." said MDTA Police Chief Colonel Jerry Jones.
The vehicle search yielded a loaded .38 caliber revolver that was listed as stolen from Lancaster, Pa., and a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun. In addition, officers located approximately 150 grams of suspected marijuana, a digital scale, a heat-sealing machine and heat-sealing packaging material in the vehicle.

The MDTA Police charged Kiscaden with drug possession - marijuana, drug possession with intent to distribute, firearms possession violations, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, transporting a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of ammunition after being prohibited from possessing a firearm among other charges. Officers also charged him with multiple traffic violations.

Kiscaden was traveling from Lancaster to Deland. After processing, officers transported him to the Baltimore Central Booking and Intake Facility for an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. He was held on $2 million bail.
The Maryland Transportation Authority Police, a nationally accredited force, is the seventh-largest law-enforcement agency in the state, with more than 600 sworn and civilian law-enforcement professionals. MDTA Police officers provide law enforcement at the MDTA's highways, bridges and tunnels; at BWI Marshall Airport; and at the Port of Baltimore.
