CURTIS CREEK DRAWBRIDGE DECK REHABILITATION AND RESILIENCY PROJECT SET TO BEGIN SPRING 2026
Public Invited to Attend Informational Open House Tuesday, March 3
BALTIMORE (February 18, 2026) – The Maryland Transportation Authority’s (MDTA) today announced an informational open house for the Curtis Creek Drawbridge Deck Rehabilitation and Resiliency project, where the public can learn about the project and provide feedback. Expected to begin construction during the spring of 2026, this rehabilitation project is part of the MDTA’s preservation program to enhance safety and reliability along the I-695 corridor in Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County. The project is necessary for the continued maintenance of the two bridges that carry the Inner and Outer Loops of I-695 over Curtis Creek.

What Can Drivers Expect?
This project will be delivered in two main construction phases. Phase 1 will close the Inner Loop I-695 between Quarantine Road (Exit 1) and MD 10 (Exit 2) and route all traffic to the Outer Loop I-695, which will provide one lane of travel in each direction. Phase 2 will close Outer Loop I-695 between MD 10 (Exit 2) and Quarantine Road (Exit 1) and route all traffic to the Inner Loop I-695, which will provide one lane of travel in each direction. Additionally, the ramp from northbound MD 10 to the I-695 Outer Loop will be detoured for the duration of Phase 2. Both phases of construction will replace portions of the concrete decks and parapets and repair the steel girders adjacent to the main bridge spans. Additionally, the project will clean and paint the steel superstructure in repaired areas, upgrade lighting and traffic signals on the bridge, and install new pavement markings and signage. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2027.
