RICHARD JARAMILLO NAMED

BAY BRIDGE ADMINISTRATOR

BALTIMORE, MD – The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA), which finances, owns, operates and maintains the state’s eight toll facilities, today announced that it has named Richard Jaramillo as its Administrator for the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial (Bay) Bridge (US 50/301).

“We are welcoming Richard back to the MDTA and the Bay Bridge, where he previously held the Deputy Administrator position,” said MDTA Executive Director Milt Chaffee.  “I am confident that Richard’s expertise and previous MDTA experience will prove to be a great asset to the bridge and our stakeholders.”

As Facility Administrator, Mr. Jaramillo manages 82 full-time personnel and the bridge’s daily toll-collection, maintenance and traffic-management activities and coordinates budgets and construction projects at the bridge.  He will balance operations and preservation work, build relationships with MDTA customers and communities and keep safety a priority.

A Kent Island resident, Mr. Jaramillo began his career at the MDTA in 2006.  In addition to serving as Bay Bridge Deputy Administrator, he previously served as Assistant Manager for Capital Programming and Assistant Manager for Government and Community Relations, where he was responsible for the development and oversight of the six-year capital program and long-range capital needs among other responsibilities.

Before joining the MDTA, Mr. Jaramillo was Division Manager for New Mexico’s Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, where he was responsible for the daily operations, duties, planning and budgets for a territory of 400-plus miles and more than 80 employees.  He also is a former City Councilman for Belen, N.M.  Before returning to the MDTA, Mr. Jaramillo was a consultant for Zions Bancorporation and C.R. England, both in Salt Lake City, Utah.
